*Update 10 May 2007*
It used to be you could send sms to any number but now, the receipient must be a Mobik member.
*End of Update 10 May 2007*
Each mobile service provider from Digi to Maxis has its own website for members to send sms via online. However, you can only send it to the numbers under the same company.
MobiK offers free sms (no limit woh) worldwide on your mobile or PC to any prefix.
Using Flash (a web/animation programming software), it’s quite slow loading even with broadband. I don’t think it’s slow purely because of the Flash language but possibly backend issues because some Flash websites load quite fast. It will check if your computer has Flash and prompt you to install it if you don’t have Flash.

MobiK-login… clock is still there, moving. Pleaaasssse load up! Agh - time out. Pretty reflection.
As long as there’s a clock moving icon, it’s not fully loaded yet so you can’t click anything. Ok, you can click all you want for exercise but it’s not going to help to load faster. Sometimes, there’s even service time out (I got this frequently) and you have to refresh the page (click F5). The interface is stylish - it has reflection in the main page! Using Java Applets with Flash?
The funny thing is, it has a Advertising Standard Check but it doesn’t tell you which word is inappropriate.

No, censored part is not inappropriate
I had to figure out why my simple sms prompted this:
Heh, my editing skills improved with the image above this. Nah, I’m just showing an example between amateur (read: hands on) and intermediate touch up. :p It would be even better if the censored part follows the background colour but ah, next time lah!
It was the smiley :) Huh? :) was innocent! I object to the checking of language when it claimed my :) was inappropriate!
Among the features:
- save contacts & numbers
- send sms in a group
- drag and drop a saved contact into the To column
- the Inbox feature is not implemented yet at this time of writing
- view history of Sent sms

Ops, the clock was over the Sent folder. It even contained the original sms, something which Digi didn’t include.
The catch? An advertisement is displayed after you’ve typed your sms and clicked Send, before it sends your sms.

Random ads. The phone looks cool.
